A BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE LENS ON
SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH
Understanding health goes beyond the stethoscope.
Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) are a holistic way to understand health outcomes - enabling us to navigate through the intricate web of social, economic, and environmental factors that correlate to health disparities and inequities across individuals and populations.
Using this framework, we’ll examine each social determinant of health through the lens of behavioral science, unraveling some of the biases, heuristics, and socio-environmental forces that influence a patient’s actions and decision making. Organizations can significantly improve their preventative health interventions by tailoring communication and care delivery based on the predominant behavioral factors influencing their patient populations.
